Carefully utilizing the City of Spokane’s new in-fill zoning code & allowable density regulations, coupled with Transition’s desire to provide independent affordable housing, HMA developed a plan that meets both needs well. Each small cottage is arranged in such a way that it provides for the required public & private open area while facing either a street, common space, or both. Required to have no more than twenty percent of the project with similar features, five unique cottage designs were created. This will help foster a sense of individualism and pride while allowing for the evolution of a community.
